Will Eisner created this watercolor
painting in 1978 as the wraparound cover for Spirit Magazine
#18. This is Eisner's first cover painting (the
first 16 Warren Spirit Magazine covers were collaborative
efforts, while Kitchen Sink's first Spirit Magazine, #17,
was a solo wraparound by Eisner but executed in pen and ink.)
Featured villains are P'Gell (far left) and Carrion
(with his treasured pet vulture, Julia). The Spirit
runs through a classic three-dimensional Eisner logo in a sewer-like
cave, evading the villains' henchmen. The painting measures 23.5"
wide x 16" high. Signed in lower right corner. Price:
$9,000. |
